Miami grew from a trading post to a city in a single generation, which is why they called it the Magic City, and it has never slowed down enough to disagree. The pastel Art Deco hotels on Ocean Drive glow neon by nine. Calle Ocho runs through Little Havana past the domino tables, and a cafecito handed through a ventanita at three in the afternoon is the closest thing the 305 has to a town meeting. Wynwood's warehouse walls change murals every season, Vizcaya's stone gardens sit on Biscayne Bay like a piece of Italy that drifted off course, and the Brickell towers stack up behind the sailboats in the bay.

Our Miami collection runs on those colors. The crewneck sweatshirt carries a flamingo-and-palm badge in flamingo pink and bay turquoise, built for the two weeks in January when it actually dips into the fifties and every over-chilled restaurant the rest of the year. The tee is cleaner, a hand-lettered Miami arc with the 1896 founding year, light enough for a Key Biscayne bike ride in August. The mug and sticker use the same artwork so the set matches from kitchen to laptop.

Everything is original art from independent designers, printed to order in the USA and shipped in days. It is for people raised in Dade, people who moved down and learned to order a colada for the office, and anyone who left and still misses pastelitos on a Sunday morning.

Why we love Miami

  • ✦Ocean Drive holds the largest stretch of Art Deco buildings in the world
  • ✦A three o'clock cafecito at a ventanita is a citywide ritual
  • ✦Vizcaya's gardens put a Renaissance villa right on Biscayne Bay
  • ✦Miami is the only major US city founded by a woman, Julia Tuttle, in 1896

Best time to go: January through March for dry, warm days when the rest of the country is frozen and the city is at full volume; early December for Art Week crowds and perfect bay weather.
