Albuquerque sits a mile high on the Rio Grande with the Sandia Mountains turning watermelon pink at sunset, which is what Sandia means and why nobody here gets tired of the view. Old Town Plaza has gathered around its 1793 church since the town was a Spanish outpost, Central Avenue still carries the neon of Route 66 past the KiMo Theatre and into Nob Hill, and the Bosque runs a cottonwood forest along the river straight through the city. Every October hundreds of balloons lift off at dawn, and every fall the parking lots fill with roasters tumbling green chile until the whole city smells like it. The only real question is red or green, and the correct answer is Christmas.

Our Albuquerque collection is drawn from that sky. The crewneck sweatshirt carries a hot-air-balloon badge in adobe red and sand with a green-chile accent and the 1706 founding year. The tee keeps it simple, the city name over a thin Sandia ridgeline, right for a walk through Petroglyph National Monument or a plate of enchiladas in Old Town. The mug and sticker set share the same artwork.

Everything is original, printed to order in the USA and shipped in a few days. It is for the people who grew up in Burque, the transplants who learned to roast their own chile, and everyone who left and still has a freezer full of it shipped from home.

Why we love Albuquerque

  • ✦The Sandias turn watermelon pink nearly every evening
  • ✦Hundreds of balloons rise over the Rio Grande every October dawn
  • ✦Green chile roasting season makes the whole city smell like fall
  • ✦Old Town's plaza has been the center of things since 1706

Best time to go: Early October for the balloons rising at dawn and green chile roasting in every parking lot; late April for cottonwoods leafing out along the Bosque.
