The Smokies are the most visited national park in America and it is not close. Ridge after blue ridge fades into the mist that gave the mountains their name, black bears amble through the old farm fields of Cades Cove at dawn, and the Appalachian Trail runs along the crest past Clingmans Dome, the highest point in Tennessee. In October the hardwood forest goes orange from the valleys to the summits, and in June the synchronous fireflies in Elkmont blink in unison for a couple of weeks and people enter a lottery to see it. Half the park is in North Carolina, the other half in Tennessee, and the whole thing is free to enter.

Our Smokies collection starts with a hand-engraved black bear in Cades Cove, a split-rail fence and the layered ridges rolling off into the haze behind. More scenes are coming for the Clingmans Dome tower, Laurel Falls and the Roaring Fork grist mill. The crewneck and hoodie are for a foggy morning on Newfound Gap; the tee and the mug are for the drive down into Gatlinburg for pancakes.

Everything is original artwork, printed to order in the USA. We are not affiliated with the National Park Service or any park concessioner.

Why we love Great Smoky Mountains

  • ✦It is the most visited national park in the country and still free
  • ✦Cades Cove is the best place in the East to see a black bear
  • ✦The blue mist on the ridges is the real thing
  • ✦Elkmont's fireflies blink in sync every June

Best time to go: Mid-October for the most-visited fall color in America; late May and June for synchronous fireflies in Elkmont and rhododendron on the ridges; early mornings year-round for bears in Cades Cove.
